This poor blog has been sorrily neglected, but after many months I am back. It feels like everything has hanged. I have changed cities and am now excepting my second child. The blog BayBulitin will have to transform overtime into a new outlet for collaboration. I’ll have to see what need there is for such a site in the Pacific Northwest. I am still passionate about decreasing my impacted on the planet (even more so now that I seem to be multiplying). This blog will still function as my open journal as I learn to garden, upcyle, eat locally, give up animal products, use nontoxic and renewable products -or do away with my need for them… In short, I am on a journey to see how a mom can raise her kids to be strong, healthy and socially conscious in this day in age without sacrificing their freedom to enjoy life in a modern city. I also plan to update my favorites page with interesting tidbits I find along the way. My hope is that as I learn and throw these ideas up on the blog, someone somewhere will find them useful.
To begin I have a few huge obstacles to overcome.
First, as I was moving my little family up north (the day we were loading the truck) I lost my job. Bummer, however I am holding strong to the belief that everything happens for a reason and something better will come of it. As a 5 month pregnant mother, it is a bit harder to find a new job, but there is support all around if you are willing to ask. So for now money is my first obstacle.
The second is an obstacle, but not a painful one. I found a lovely little house (just shy of 400 square feet) this month. I love it -it’s well laid out, close to a park, shops and public transit. It is also close to family. The best part is the yard, a large south facing lot -but it needs a lot of work. This is a big step up from the garden I had on our steps in SF. I’m not sure were to begin. I’m not sure how to begin given my lack of money… but I have a yard, I have a home and I have my computer. My first plan is to collaborate with people who love to garden, but don’t have space. If it works I may end up with a garden and a group of new friends.
Third. Well there’s a few and I’ll tackle them as I go. If you are really still reading this thank you. Hopefully I can make it worth your while.
